A long-due re-read of a series. Magic, multiple Londons, and rounded characters made it an enjoyable read.

Summary & Thoughts
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Kell is a blood magician who can travel between layered worlds, each with a city called London. When he accidentally smuggles a dark-magic stone into Grey London and Lila steals it from him, their stories intertwine. They work together to steal the second half of the stone and return it to Black London where it can't do more harm.
There are hints that Lila is also a magician throughout the book but it's not a main factor. Two very rounded characters, snarky Lila and self-deprecating Kell, make this story very entertaining.
"How did you know it wasn't me?"
"She said please."
I really like how the two main characters left things, that they aren't deeply in love and kissing and all that by the end of the book but go their separate ways. Kell feels they'll meet again—hinting at more adventures to come—but there is no romantic happy ending.
