Inspired by a few weird phrases PETA wants to replace with alternatives, I thought a lot about everyday language and the words we choose to express ourselves. There are so many sexist, racist, ableist, and other-ist expressions in the languages I speak, it is hard to even notice them anymore. What we say matters.
